Trinity Churchyard is the final resting place of Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of Treasury, a Founding Father & the founder of the Bank of New York, the nation's oldest commercial lender. Mortally wounded in a duel with Aaron Burr, Hamilton died on July 12, 1804. The Hamilton monument, made of a pure-white high grade marble, was commissioned in 1804, but not erected until 1806.
