Imagine not caring about Christmas… Clement Clarke Moore wanted to make sure everyone did care, and he set about writing A Visit from St. Nicholas, the classic poem that would change our experience of Christmas forever. Now we have “Twas the Night Before a New York Christmas-a modern-day radio drama based on Moore's beloved poem. In this heartwarming family tale, there are visions of sugar plums & the sounds of hooves on the roof, but Moore’s deeper purpose becomes clear: the spirit of Christmas comes alive in his children and in a lonely boy living in New York City more than a century later. Moore’s father was rector of Trinity Church from 1800-1816, & Moore went on to become a Hebrew Scholar at the Episcopal Church’s General Seminary. Every year people gather to hear a reading of Moore’s famous poem & then pay their respects at his gravesite in Trinity Church Cemetary & Mausoleum. The Trinity Wall Street Choristers are one of New York City’s premiere youth choir. The Choristers have appeared on CBS’s The Early Show, in the feature film Doubt, and sing regularly at worship services & special engagements throughout the city. This program originally aired on Public Radio Internatioal Measurement: 49 minutes
